The purpose of this study is to present “Haelo”, a multi-platform application concept which solves some of the major problems faced by individuals when it comes to networking.
By providing a modern and flexible solution that aids an everyday “common individual” to contact certain influential individuals without getting ignored or driven by imposter syndrome.
The purpose of this product is to allow users leverage on the power of networking, ensure the time of both parties involved are valued.
The business goals are to:
Generate revenue.
Massive product adoption upon launch.
Seamless Onboarding.
The solution was to create a mobile app, responsive web app and a landing page that serves three target group {Fans, Influencers and Brands} based on the following main features:
Holla fee: Influencers can set a fixed price for brands and fans that wish to get in touch with them.
Tip Jar: Users can pay extra-fee to talk to influencers/ help their favorites generate extra income.
Review: Users can review and rate any influencer based on the quality of their conversation.
I was responsible for the user research analysis of the data, creating the brand identity of Haelo, the landing page design, leading and maintaining the design system, the overall look and experience of the mobile app, web app (fan side and brand side).

During the foundational research, I surveyed 76 people.
51% of the respondents identified as male while 49% identify as female.
The survey revealed some of the indirect competitors and direct competitors currently in the market, business opportunities and current pain point of users.

This phase focuses on defining the user groups, identifying the problems, ideating possible solutions.
Based on the insights gathered and product requirements, the information architecture was drafted out keeping the end users in mind.

This phase focuses on starting the design by sketching and designing wireframes, prototyping and testing them early in the design phase to get feedback.Some of the initial concepts before they were tested and changes made are shown in the image below:

This phase focuses on continuous iteration of the design based on the usability studies, creating a visual system and accessibility considerations. The design of the webapp and mobile app needed to be as clean and give off influence.
My team mate and I chose to use a combination of a serif and san serif font of Cambon and Graphik for contrast and accessibilty. Cambon is used as the headings and sub headings while Graphik is used as the body copy.
Bondi Blue, hex code #019cb1 was chosen as the brand primary colour to indicate influence, calming effect and for accessibility.
Onboarding Screens - Users can sign up on the platform as an infuencer, brand or a fan.
Users can either login with the email address used to register on the platform or login with Facebook or Twitter.
Chat: Users can view their messages and their recent hollas.
Store: User can view store of different influencer and get suggestions.
All users can edit their details, haes, media and view their recent reviews of other influencers.
For whatever reason a user may need to reach out to influential people, the time of both parties involved will be valued and properly accounted for.
Haelo is a complex product idea with limited time-frame, we had to work within the time while taking on a more fast-paced approach.
A mobile-first approach was taken, the components were not the scaled down version of the webapp but a thoughtful responsive design.
Learnt to work within an Agile setting and not waterfall, every member of the team was always up to date with the progress of the project.
Haelo like every other product is unfinished; continuous iterations and testing is needed to discover likely unhappy paths before it is ready for a proper handoff.
